Almost exactly half way between Lydenburg and Dullstroom is this little Gem. You can hike , ride a bike , Fish for multiple species in 6 dams or just chill by a fire. Don't expect 5 Star Luxury finishes, do expect to always have spring fed fresh water , hot even when there is loadshedding thanks to the gas geysers and Solar Power. Do expect the rustic and beautiful cottages / houses to be spotless , comfortable and safe for all ages. The landlords are amazing , they engage actively if you want to know more about the beautiful area and their land or simply leave you and your family to it... Highly recommend , I hope this review serves as an incentive to consider driving through Dullstroom for a few more kilometers 👍❤️💯

The Redbarn, Stables and all the accommodation at Dullstroom is beautiful. We were there attending a family wedding. The farm itself is stunning with. lakes and forests, scenic walks and fantastic views. The landscape is teeming with birds and other wildlife, including water buffalo, and is a great place for fishing too. We stayed in both the stables and villa and were so impressed with how comfortable and full of character the place was. The party spaces are just the best, with a braai area and also the Redbarn itself which is a magical place, ideal for any party or wedding. Claire and John are great hosts and went above and beyond to ensure the event was special and memorable for everyone. Everything was perfect from the fairy lights and decorations to the sumptuous food. We had a party never to be forgotten, dancing into the night. Although we were there for an event, Redbarn at Dullstroom is an absolute haven, ideal for couples and/or family families wanting a relaxing holiday as it is a peaceful country escape most of the time. Watching the sun set across the valley is just breathtaking. Thanks so much - we will be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We've been to some other places in this area and have been sadly disappointed by most. Not this weekend... We stayed in the stunning Dairy Cottage. Very clean, spacious and well equipped. Ample dams that are well stocked with bass provided us with an action-packed fishing excitement... My favorite was the forest dam. Hikes to historical ruins provided the much needed exercise that was rewarded by the game roaming close-by, instilling the peaceful countryside feel we needed. The other guest accommodation is generously spaced apart to give us the solitude we yearned for. Thank you John and Claire for being the perfect hosts! You've nailed it.😁

We had an amazing family reunion. Fantastic hosts. This is by far the best equipped self catering place we have ever stayed in. The dishwasher including even dishwasher tablets, was unexpected. Seems so simple but so precious when you're a big group. Plenty to do and see on the farm. Pet friendly and within an easy drive from Gauteng or Mbombela. 100% recommend and will return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Red Barn (the Dairy Cottage), the owners were very friendly and welcoming. We love nature and being surrounded by animals, so this place gets a definite 5/5. The place was clean, felt like a home, has a nice warm fireplace, quiet surrounding - away from the main road. The lake is a nice spot to have a picnic, we spent a bit of time just chilling by it. The birds and trees book collection was an extra added touch for us as my partner is an animal and agriculture expert, so he thoroughly enjoyed browsing through it. Would definitely visit again. Thank you for this wonderful experience!
